  • Steps for Students 5k Run

Time to increase those voluteer hours. The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston is asking for volunteers for this year's Steps for Students 5k Run. The need is for volunteers for both pre-race and race-day assistance.  This annual run gets bigger and bigger every year with Cardinal DiNardo often being the official starter for
On the day of the race, February 18, there is a need for about 20 people to help work traffic at entrance points. These duties include letting VIP’s into the area early and managing traffic near our Catholic School Village school drop off area.   Volunteers will receive training in advance of the duties. Volunteers need to arrive to the area near the downtown Chancery around 6:30 a.m. There is a Mass at6:30 a.m. and the race begins at 8:00 a.m. The event usually completes  by 10:30, so this function would be over well before 10:00.

There is also the need to have volunteers help stuff packets for the runners/walkers as well as serve water to runners on the course, hand out shirts, etc.   Volunteer information and sign up are all listed online at http://www.itsyourrace.com/event.aspx?id=6271
